What have you enjoyed this term and why?

• This term I have enjoyed doing AWS because I learned a lot of things from it, and it was fun!
• I’ve enjoyed book club this term, I loved the book we were reading (Ethan's voice), I enjoyed it because I just got hooked to it!
• This term I have enjoyed mastering tasks on IXL, I have enjoyed it because every time I mastered a task I felt a happy feeling.

What has been challenging this term and why?

• MDR has been challenging this term. Sometimes I got stuck on a question on my MDR because I didn't understand it, but I did ask for help.
• This term impact has been challenging, I was in the garage sale group and I was making dream catcher’s. I found this this challenging because if the wool got tangled on your metal ring, it would take ages to untangle it and it was challenging finding the end of the wool.
• This term I found IXL maths challenging because sometimes I didn't understand what the question meant, but I always booked a  conference.        

What are you looking forward to next year.

           I’m looking forward to learning more,     and completing more book club roles next year. I can’t wait till I’m a year six!

What is your idea?

My idea is to do create a Fairy garden.

Steps

1. Cut the milk bottles in half.
2. Squeeze the two milk bottles into a wooden container.
3. Pierce hole’s in the bottom of the milk bottles with a knife.
4. Put soil in the milk bottle’s.
5. Plant a strawberry plant and three swan plants in the soil.
6. Water the plants every day.

I am still planning what to do next.

Where are you at?

I am at step 6. I have thought a bit what I am doing next,

I think I might place a few pebbles in a ring shape in the garden.

Has there been any challenges so far that you have had to overcome?

There hasn't really been any challenges so far because, I know what I am doing.  I think there might be a few challenges on my next step though, I think this because, how will I stick the pebbles down so they don’t fall out?

This week we would like you to tell us about the latest earthquake in Kaikoura.

What happened?

What are the facts about the earthquake?

What happened?

On the 14 of November a 7.8m Earthquake hit  Kaikoura at 12.PM at night, although the earthquake hit in Kaikoura, the earthquake affected the whole of New Zealand. An earthquake is formed by two plates (Not dinner plates) rubbing against each other. NZ is basically formed by plates underneath it. There are different types of earthquakes, some earthquakes happen when two plates rub together, some are made by plates getting stuck together.

What are the facts about the earthquake?

• There was over 4,000 aftershocks in 7 days.
• Earthquakes happen when two plates rub together.
• There are many different ways earthquakes can happen.

Who has been affected?

• NZ.
• The underwater Sea life, like seals.

The underwater Sea life like seals, they have been affected by……… The ocean seabed came right up to the surface area, and seals got trapped in rock pools and some died.

Who else felt the quake?

• Cows, a group of cows got stranded on a little mountain.

• Ships felt the earthquake.

What does this mean for NZ?

1. NZ is now closer to Australia because of the earthquake.
2. The lower North Island has shifted West by up to 5 cm.

Two people died in a result of the earthquake.

Not so long after the earthquake people near the beach had to evacuate to high ground, because there was tsunami warnings.

Road’s have been damaged.

What was your favourite workshop and why?

Last Friday was learning in the making day! This day is all about learning while making wonderful things in workshops.

My favourite workshop’s were all of them! I did My life-weaving, First aid, Hot dog pasta and last but not least Paracord wristbands.  

My life-weaving, this workshop was run by my Mummy. What we did was pick strands of wool or fabric or feathers, we had to pick things that represented things that are included in our lives like family. This workshop was awesome I loved it!

First aid, this workshop was cool but I got retouched because I already do St John's, so I new most things already but this workshop was fun! I liked this workshop because I got rethought so now my mind is fresh and I can still remember what I learned.

Hot dog pasta, this was a fun fun workshop we got to learn how to make Hot dog pasta! When we had made it we got to eat it, it was so good! I loved it. This is a picture of it….

Paracord wristbands, this workshop was fun! This is what a Paracord wristband is …..This workshop was all about persevering, it was really hard at the start then it was easy once I knew how to do it. Mine ended up in a weird way because I made a little mistake, but Mrs Blunden helped me by fixing it. Mistakes happen and that's okay! I learned how to make a Paracord wristband, now I can teach others.

Holiday recount

This holiday was one of the cruisiest holidays I have ever had! My family and I had only really gone out for family trip once or twice, we went to the bays out near Miranda hot pools. That trip was fun because we took my puppy Ruby, she had never been to a beach or a bay before so she was shocked! Ruby hated the water, I led Ruby over to the water and she started shivering and whining, she even tried to get away but I stopped her. After the trip to the bays we went to get ice cream it was good.

This holiday was cool because my dad introduced me to an olden day tv show, called Full House. I love that show now that I know it and in the holidays when there was time I could watch it! These holidays were cruisey.

Labour day!

Labour day was made because of the 8 hour struggle with work, so they made it a holiday. The first Labour day was in the 1840’s 28th October. This day is a day where everyone gets a day off. People either go on holiday, spend time with family or simply have a chill day. This Labour weekend this is what my family did. Saturday we picked my friend up, and then we headed home and mum and dad took me and Anniemeka out for dinner. On Sunday Anniemeka and I made a fairy house and did a spell so they knew we did. That night we played Spotlight! I got home base about 5 times, it was fun! The next day my family and Anniemeka and I climbed Mount Maunganui, than Anniemeka had to go so we left too. That was my holiday!

My Polystyrene

My mum had thought of something to do with fairies and mystical things, so I thought it could be a mixture of things to do with magical and mystical. Then when I had finished mum thought it looked like a fantasy land, so that's what it turned out to be.

My mum helped me with glueing the stuff on with a hot glue gun, (To be honest I’m glad, I did not want to be burned.) Mum also helped me with the wool, wrapping it round the cylinder was tricky it kept getting trapped.

First we wrapped the wool round and round the cylinder, then I positioned the shells and fairy where I wanted them to go.

Then the next day mum helped me glue the items on.

I loved my end project, I thought it was creative. When I came to school the next day I saw Maggie’s and Isabella’s projects, and they looked stunning they really tickled my tongue. I loved them. I think the shape of Isabella’s Caterpillar project was really cool I also liked colour, it was unusual and that was why I liked it. I liked Maggie’s because I love magical things especially a toad stool, I liked her imagination.

I am in the Garage sale Impact group, and here are          some things I can tell about my group.

                   Where we are at with Impact…….

I am learning all about money and Jobs, Wages and Income that sort of stuff. We also are working on the cost of things we need for the creations we are making like... I am making a Reindeer Christmas gift and it requires Brown paper, Pom poms and lots more. That is where we are at.

                 What we have accomplished so far……..

We have accomplished learning about money, finding out what we are doing, listing how to make the creation cost and then learning how to do a procedure then doing one. I have learned so much even though it’s only the beginning.

                  What are your next steps in order to complete your project/projects by the Term 4 deadline?  

Our next steps are..

1. Gather the stuff we need and start making a practice creation
2. Add stuff on until we have the creation we wanted
3. Start making more of our creations
4. Pricing the creations.

So far I am enjoying every step that we are processing,  I also am enjoying working together as groups.

There is nothing I am not enjoying because this has been really fun!

Term 3 reflection

What have you enjoyed the most this term and why?

• I have enjoyed reading books and doing book club roles because I love reading.
• I have also enjoyed learning new things in Maths, like ‘How much time is in between these times,’because I learned so much from this IXL task.
• This term I have enjoyed learning about the cost of things in Impact. I liked this because now I know what wages are.

What has been challenging this term and why?

• I found finding the cost of things challenging in impact because we had to look for the right cost of things, by searching them up on the internet.
• I found maths challenging when we had this IXL task that was “Finding how much time is in between this time time on an analogue clock.” But in the end I tried my best and I got it finished. This was challenging because it was my first time doing it.
• I found AWS challenging when it came to a challenging page, I always got through them though because I tried - that's the most important thing. This was challenging because I was still learning the questions that were on the AWS page.   

What are you looking forward to next term and why?

I am looking forward to having fun while I am learning at the same time, I am also looking forward to a new term. I also am looking forward to swimming because we have not swam in the Ngatea pool for ages.

Queens birthday!

The Queen's birthday

The Queen's real birthday is on the 21 first of April, heaps of New Zealanders celebrate the

Queen's birthday on the first Monday of June (That's the sixth of June it is a very special day. On the day

of the Queen's birthday New Zealanders

get the day off school and people usually get the day off work. In Australia the day when they get one day off varies, like in 2016 the date is going to be Monday June the 13th and in 2017 the date is going to be Monday the 12th of June. It's not the same date in every country that means the Queen has her birthday like one after another that would be horrible. NZ celebrates the Queen's birthday because we're part of the commonwealth. For the long weekend we're just going to hang around home and maybe go for a bike ride.

This term for art we did String art.

Steps

1. First we had to chose a template of something
2. Then Mrs Lindsay printed it out, we than stuck blu tack on the back of the paper.
3. We all helped by bringing wood in so we could stick the paper on the wood.
4. Mrs Lindsay put little marks where we had to nail nails into the wood.
5. Then we had to loop string around and around the nail’s.  

 

This is my finished Art project.

My design was a dog, I thought that I would do a dog because dogs are my favourite animals.

I played dress up with Karly, Elise, Brooklyn and Makayla. We made up a show for the class and Karly was a crack up!	The minus thing about doing this show was choosing the right clothing. It took us a while to find the perfect dress but when we did it was awesome.	It was Interesting watching what the other people had been doing for that hour.
I loved working together because if we didn't, we would have had no show to show the class. That show’s why working together is so important.	We had trouble finding out what to do for a performance. We had a lot of ideas that weren't going to work, when Brooklyn decided she would be the sound effect person we finally found out what we would do for the show.	I found the reaction of the class interesting because they laughed so much. I thought that was cool and all but the fact my friends talked about how awesome it was at lunch time, I thought that was really Interesting.

    
 

                    

            

                     

            

What I did in the holiday's!

What I did in the holidays!

My holiday’s was awesome!

On the first Friday of the holiday’s I went to Ohope with my family, we used to live in Ohope for two year’s that’s why we came to visit our friend’s. On Friday we stayed at my friend’s (Best friend) house, Annimaka is her name. She’s my twin BFF because Annimeka is the  same age as me and her birthday is exactly the same date as me anyway it’s a long story short. We had a great time, we made a fairy house for the fairies that night and the next day my sister, Annimeka and me checked it and there was fairy dust all on the house. My family and me left their house at about 8.30 that morning because Annimeka had to go to the airport to catch a plane and fly with her Nanna to the South Island. On Saturday night we stayed at my other BFF Holly’s place, they had a pool that was unfortunately green on that day which was a bummer because it was a hot boiling day. So we stayed the night at Holly’s and her brother Samuel’s house. Willis my brother is friends with Samuel so that works out great. That morning me Holly and my sister Shirley had fun with playing surprise! Surprise! - Dolls houses and poly pockets! It was so much fun. Then after a while my family left Holly’s house once again! We stayed another night in Ohope at another friends house then left  Ohope the next day.

That was my exciting little trip to Ohope and it was great!

A lovely book review about a book called Queenie!

I’ve been enjoying reading Queenie at home. It’s a brilliant book.  At school I’m proud that I’ve nearly done everything and it’s only Monday. I enjoyed doing my book reveiw and again I’m proud I’ve done it.     

I’ve done a bit of IXL but it’s getting harder

each week and especially this week. Thank you for listening!
