Emoji challenge

Emoji Challenge!

There are three parts to this weeks Blog Post…
  1. Create a google drawing of your very own Emoji.
  2. You must write a paragraph of 4-6 sentences explaining your emoji - what emotion is it for? Why did you use the colours you chose? What challenges did you have while using Google Drawing?
  3. Write a sentence that your emoji would be used in.

Christmas Emoji,

I chose this emoji because it’s almost Christmas, and Christmas makes me happy! My emoji has present eyes, and a santa hat with a candy cane.

I chose to use these colours because they brighten the emoji, and I used red for the hat because that's the original colour.

I had trouble with placing the facials in the right place, because if you muck one thing up you have to move everything over.

Discovery sharing

Discovery sharing

I was in the footbinding group with Ruby and Jessica.

How did your Discovery Sharing go with the students from Whenua? -

I think it went pretty well, although at first we couldn't stop giggling as we were doing the play. As it went on we started to get the hang of presenting over and over again, it was quite enjoyable.

Did you have an attentive audience?

Yes and No.
The first group seemed to enjoy it, they asked lots of questions like, ‘Why did people bind their feet?’ After that Whenua came and went, we still had a lot of people though.

Would you change anything for next time?

I would change it so we would have more presenting time, and more time to investigate. Even though we managed to present a good play, we only had one week to practise it.

How did you feel while sharing and what were you most proud of when you were sharing?

I had butterflies in my tummy when we first started, but after that it was easy as.
I was most proud of sharing in front of two whole classes!  It was scary because we were the only one’s sharing, but again in the end it was great!

Quote

My quote is something that makes me smile whenever I say it out loud, I think this quote has lots of good messages in it. The quote that I like is from a movie I watched about a year ago with my siblings, I can’t remember what it’s called but it ended the movie really well. The quote that I have chosen is……..

You don’t have to be the best,
You just have to do your best!

…...I think It would change the world if everyone did what this quote says, I think many people need to realize that it’s not all about themselves. This quote clearly says that you just need try do the very best you can do, it's not about being the best or the top person in the world, it’s about being you and showing that it’s OK to lose in a fun game of handball. It’s OK!

I believe that one day, one day the whole world will finally realize that the world can be a happy place if everyone worked together to make it work.

I think this is one of my favourite quotes!

Idrive Recount

I have enjoyed…….. Joining with the Whenua kids has been really cool, it makes things more interesting and now we can learn what half the school likes to do. I think joining with them was a fantastic thing to do! I think it's fun doing/learning new things.

I would change……. I would change one thing, that would be being here on the 18th (last Friday.) I was doing something that I had been wanting to do for a long, long time. I had missed out on the second week of Photography, I think taking action shots of things like dripping water from a tap is cool.

One challenging thing……. I don’t know, the only thing I could think of is trying to find the teachers to ask for something to do with the session I’m in. For example, when I was in dance we could not find any of the teachers to ask if we could practise in the hall before we perform.

Idea for Idrive activity……. I think I would add a detective, discovery sort of group experience. The group would be about finding something interesting around the world, look at what sort of things go missing the most in the world? How would you solve it? What would you do to stop this thing from going missing so often, be a detective and find out!

Cross Country

Cross Country recount

It was our Ngatea school Cross Country day T3 W6 on a Tuesday.

On our school Cross Country day I had a sore foot so I did not do Cross Country.

Next year I want to achieve my personal goal of doing Cross Country, and trying my best in it.

Last year when it was cross country I had a problem with my right foot, this year I have a problem with my left.

This meant I did not do Cross Country in two years in a row, I like doing Cross Country so when I’m older I want to be able run fast and still do lots of sports. I still did the first two weeks of training for the big day, but then I no longer could do the block run.

I was still really proud of my brother this year because he really gave it his all in going as fast as he could go, he made it into Hauraki Plains for the 8 year old boys and from there he made it into TV.

I have only made it into Hauraki Plains for Cross Country, so I felt really happy that my brother participated in TV. I told him that he had broke the family kids Cross Country record out of the three of us for going to TV.

I wish to participate in cross country next year, but for now I’m not so worried about not going the last two years.

While I wasn’t doing it, I stayed at my dad's work. I stayed in the sick bay till 10:30 then I got to sit in the doctor's room for the rest of the day, I played on my computer and finished my book from home.

I was playing on my computer at 1:30 then I heard my mum's voice, she’d come to pick me up early. She had finished work early, she said she didn’t feel too well. After all that we went to roam round the Ngatea op shop.

It was that afternoon that I found out my brother had made it to Hauraki, that was my cross country day.

Holiday Recount

Term 4 week 1
Holiday recount!

Where we went - On the last Friday of school mum picked me up 15 minutes early so we could feel like we were on holiday mode, and head to Ohope. We decided that it would be easier to stay at one friend's house for 5 days (Friday to Tuesday) instead of scrambling about from one friend's house to another.

Who we stayed with - As I explained we stayed at one friend's house for the 5 days we were in Ohope for. My good friends we stayed with was my BFF Holly Jennings, her brother Samuel and her lovely parents Mark and Gayle. Holly is my age so we play together, Samuel is Willis’s age so that’s covered and Shirley tags along with Holly and me.

What we did - Holly’s family were going to head to America a few days after we left, so that meant that they had to stay in good health. They weren’t allowed to go swimming in the ocean but we still had great fun, we strode along the sandy shore and made a sand castle island with Donald Trump's sandy shore wall around it. Me and Holly had fun feeding our baby dolls with flour and water to look like milk, it doesn’t taste like milk though. (Don’t taste it, It's disgusting!)

The end of Ohope - On the last day of our Ohope adventure we were all knackered so you can imagine what we were like spending 5 days with the same friends, cranky. That’s right, not the normal us. So it was nice sleeping the long 3 hour drive back home.

I also experienced the Luge! It was amazingly fun, I got over my fear of doing the whole thing pretty quick. The only thing with the ski lift is that it can stop, and there’s no enclosed space you just hang there.

That was a part of my holiday.

If you won $1,000,000 what would you do.....?

If you one  $1,000,000 what would you do…...

Two lucky people have won their share of $1,000,000 this weekend. That’s $500,000 each. So, what would you do if you won $1,000,000 (all to yourself)? What could you buy with this much money? Please provide a table with each item listed and how much it will cost you, don’t rest until it’s all gone!! (You will have to do some research!!)  Make sure your prices come from NZ!  Link the website to the price to show us that it’s real!

If I won $1,000,000 I would buy a deluxe house, and then save money to buy the usual shop every 2nd Friday.

I would buy a suitable house for the family I might have when I’m older.
$445,000
Matamata
14 Manuka ST
Shopping food for 4.

I would keep some money for shopping every 2nd week, and make sure that I don’t run out of money.
$450

I love dogs! I would really like one when I’m older, I would like to have a King Charles puppy and maybe even puppys. I think there cute.
$1,250

To be honest, I don’t know what I want to buy if I got $1,000,000. I don’t know what I want to buy or what I need when older, apart from the three things I’ve got above. At the moment I’m fine with what I have in real life. Winning the Lotto would be great, but I don’t know what I would get/do with it.

The things that I would want If I had $1,000,000 (Not including the things above,) and If I really needed these things would probably be…

  1. Toys for my children when I’m older
  2. Computer
  3. Furniture
  4. TV

I wouldn't go crazy with money, because if I did I wouldn't have any left.

I don’t know what It's going to be like when older, and I don’t want to know at the moment. I want to enjoy being a kid why I can.

Sport recount

Blog post term 3 Sport recount

Tell us about your sports this winter.  Which team do you play for?  Who are your coaches or your team mates?  How have you gone so far this year?  What have been your greatest achievements and your biggest learning?  What have you gotten better at?  Do you play for a rep team?  What do you enjoy the most about your sport.

Which team do you play for? - This Winter I am playing for the Ngatea Storms netball team, we have been doing really well with our games. We all have been achieving our personal netball goals, I have gotten better at playing GS again. On one game I shot 6 goals for my team, that game was one of our best.

Who are your coaches or your team mates? - My coach this year has taught me some really good skills and games that we do at training, this year my coach is Tracy Nicholson she is such a good coach. I would definitely have her as a coach again. My team mates who complete the team are…. Kate, Kayde, Storm, Jessie, Paige, Caitlyn, Samantha and me of course. I think we make a great team.

How have you gone so far this year? - I think we are doing really well this year, we're winning some and losing some games but the main thing is we’re having fun! We have all been learning so many new things about netball, I know I certainly have been. It helps that we have such a great coach, she’s always there for everyone.

What have been your greatest achievements and your biggest learning? - My greatest achievement has been learning how to be a great shooter again, I kind of lost my touch. My biggest learning has been learning how to shoot better like I said, I’m glad I’ve started to shoot again.

What have you gotten better at? - I have gotten better at every position, I’m very proud of myself. I think I have done really well so far, all my team has. Netball is my favourite sport, I like to play netball games against a team I don’t know.

Do you play for a rep team? - No, I don’t play for a REP team. I went to the trials but they didn’t pick me, I thought ‘’Oh well I’ll try next year.’’

What do you enjoy the most about your sport? - I just love playing netball and having lots and lots of FUN!

Netball is great FUN!

Holidays

Blog post term 3 Holiday
recount

On the second week of the holidays I went to Whangamata,
my mum, my siblings and me.
We went to see my Aunty Laura and Stacey, they live in Christchurch but they were on holiday.

We hadn't seen them for 2 years, my Aunty used to be a police woman so she and Stacey were allowed to stay in a police house.
They invited us to stay a night there too! I was really excited about it. First before we were going there, we were going to spent a night at Taliya’s house, out near Whangamata about 45 min away.

At night we went fishing with them, but the fish weren't biting but the thought was what counted and it was really cool being there at night! The next morning we left their farm, and headed to our final destination.

When we got there we spend time with Aunty Laura and Stacey, it was fun seeing them again. Later on we went for a walk on the beach, then we went shopping. The beach walk was nice, but it was pouring with rain.

When we went home we all took a nap, we all needed it. Although I read and my sister went on my brothers ipod. But my brother and mum were fast asleep. That night we watched the movie Ballerina, it was a really cool and a sad movie.

The next day we said goodbye and left to home, I enjoyed my holidays but I hope I see my Aunty soon (not in two years.)

That was my Holidays

Celebrate my learning,

Blog post week 6

Share something that you are proud of with us this year. It can be from any curriculum area. What have you discovered? Have you had an ‘aha’ moment? Have you tried something new?

This year I am proud that I can be trusted to do certain things, and I am proud that I’m doing really well in my learning. Although in maths we do 10 quick questions in are AWS, and I don’t always get them right, but this week I think I might get most of them right. I am really enjoying build a zoo, because before I did it I didn't know how to work out area and perimeter but now I do!

I am learning new things every day. I have discovered lots of things like, my goals for example: I discovered that monitoring my reading really helps you understand the storyline better, in my reading I think I’m doing really well I really love the books we read.

I had an ‘aha’ moment when I had a conference about my math goal with Mrs Loft, my goal was to - Divide numbers by whole numbers - I thought I did’nt how to do it but it turned out that I learned how to do it a week before! So I got every single question right.

This year I have learned lots of things, but one thing I have learned is that on my cheat sheet it  shows you everything that you need to no. I also learned how to work out area and perimeter, and now I’m getting better at it. I  found a really good quote that sometimes helps me when I’m stuck, you don’t have to be the best you just have to try your best.
